Hi, all. This is Ben Schwartz, a Sacramento comic store owner and small press comic publisher with ECV Press. I am also a co-writer with Hai-Na-Nu Saulque on our new project Hank Houston. We entered a worldwide competition to find the best new comic for Platinum Studios to produce and we have made it to the TOP 10.

SMALLVILLE UPDATE

Lee Thompson Young is playing Cyborg in an upcoming episode of The WB's Smallville, The Continuum has learned.

Young, 21, starred for three seasons in Disney Channel's The Famous Jett Jackson. He also appeared in the film Friday Night Lights and will be in the upcoming series South Beach.

His other TV guest spots include Jake 2.0 and The Guardian and he has provided voice roles for The Proud Family and Xiaolin Showdown.

The "Cyborg" episode of Smallville will likely air during the February sweeps.

superman movie

ok, so this is slightly off topic, but I saw this linked to from a variety of sources, and thought this would be a good audience to discuss this with.

it's allegedly an account of how the superman move got screwed up over and and oer again. given my cursory knowledge of hollywood and what goes into major motion pictures, i'm not terribly surprised. however, a lot of the details seem like a stretch, and rather, well, absurd.

ok i just had to get this off my chest. in justice league and Ulimited. wonder woman can fly. where did she get this abillty. and the tv show and all comic books the only way she could fly is by her invisible jet. also her strength i knew she was strong but i did not think she was as strong as superman.

7/9/05 episode!

I've REALLY liked the last few episodes. Very intense. But what the hell was up at the end of this episode? Brainiac inside of Luther? When did this happen? How are the gonna pull this off? Any thoughts? I like where theyve been going with this storyline but I dont know about this...

JLU: "The Doomsday Sanction" (ep 68, 2/19/05) SPOILERS!

This had to have been one of the best episodes of JLU I've ever seen. The action was fast paced, characters were on target, and it was one of those "pivotal" episodes which not only ties into the DC Universe, but will have repercussions in the JLU Universe down the road in other episodes.

Justice Lords flashbacks (sorta)! Batman and Amanda Waller in the shower together (sorta)! Doomsday vs. Supes again again (sorta)!

Thing I learned most from this episode:

Batman is my hero.

I want to be Batman when I grow up.

Rushing blindly and selflessly to stop the nuclear K-missile launched towards a battling Supes and D-day. Knowing the only way to get to the island in time is to push the jet past its safety limits, yet knowing that if he does this it will probably burn up in re-entry. Realizing the only way to stop the missile is to magnetically attach the jet itself to it and fly it away as it explodes.

Then... pulling the eject at the very last second... and surviving. I know they won't kill off Batman in JLU, but the whole sequence of events had me locked on the TV screen.

Simply put, Bats rocks. (And so does Kevin Conroy, the voice.)

Afterwards, Bruce is in the JLU sickbay (or whatever it's called), looking like he's the one who got into the fight with D-day. Supes and WW come in, acting slightly superior in their justifications on why they sent D-day to the Phantom Zone.

Batman: Sent him off to the Phantom Zone, didn't you?
Superman: He left us no choice.
Batman: Spoken like a true Justice Lord.

This is when Bruce... not Bats... basically tells them they're full of shit:

Batman: What would stop you from doing what (the Justice Lord) Superman did?
Superman: There's always that kryptonite you carry around.
Batman: You don't get to joke! Not today! I just took a bullet for you.

That's right, Clark. The guy in the cape and cowl and no superpowers whatsoever took one for you, big guy.

Then the ominous final scene -- Bruce alone in the dark room, watching a commercial on TV. Seems that reformed-Luthor is (somehow) running for president... of the United States of America.

(Don't get me started on the "how can a convicted felon run for president" issue. Having lots of money helps, I suppose.)

We then see then even-sterner-looking-than-he-was-before Bruce, staring back at the TV.

Justice Lords indeed, Clark.
